Hi Everyone, having difficulty finding out whether I can eat watermelon or not, on holiday in Rhodes, lots of it about! Any advice?
Thanks Poppy 460

I love watermelon just checking nutritional info

the only way to tell is to use a blood glucose meter and check.
I can eat a few ounces of peach or watermelon, but it is hard to restrict the amounts once I get started. If I know that I will have to face the meter I can usually show some restraint.

The clue is in the name - it's mostly just lightly sweetened water. Uncut, it's the safest way to take in fluid in dodgy countries. Sliced on a market stall, it's the best way to get a gut infection. Bitter experience.

Watermelon is a great example of something that is quite high GI (Glycaemic Index), but quite low GL (Glycaemic Load) since, as @mikeyB says, it's mostly water and you'd need to eat a huge amount to get a significant carb hit 🙂
