Can diabetics take water tablets for weight loss?

My friend (non diabetic) raves about them and I just wondered if I should take them or not?

Hi Silkman.

As I understand it, water tablets will merely dehydrate you so you appear to have lost weight, but in fact you've just lost fluid.

If youre prescribed them for a particular condition, that would be different.

They are often, apparently, abused by people with eating disorders for the reasons above, which stresses the body and can cause complications.

PLEASE PLEASE do not use water tablets to lose weight! As robster says, they just dehydrate you.

Water tablets can aggravate diabetes and make your blood sugar levels rise as well as what rob and rach have mentioned, so I would not reccommend them Bob.
