To mark Falls Awareness Week (17-21 June), NHS South Kent Coast Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is asking older people in Dover, Deal, Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh to 'think feet'.
There were 894 new attendances at the outpatient fracture clinics in East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) for South Kent Coast patients aged 65+ for the period 1 April 2012 - 31 March 2013.
This year's awareness week, organised by Age UK, is focused on the importance of healthy feet to help maintain mobility and independence throughout life. Foot conditions can result in foot pain, which in turn can cause problems with balance, walking and sensation in the feet ? all of which can lead to falls.
