Anyone else finding their BGs a little more unpredictable and wobbly over the last few weeks?

I feel very lucky that I have Deep Thought to auto-tweak doses these days, but it does seem to take a little while to catch up with changes to my insulin sensitivity etc.

Do our T2 members on oral meds also notice a change in BG patterns as the weather warms? It’s a fairly common experience for those of us on insulin, but I’m not sure how common it is to see weather-related BG changes on other sorts of medication.

Any other insulin-users playing Dose Tweakeroo?

Oh, that's interesting. My BG have been a tiny bit higher, nothing too bad, I assumed it was due to my cold rather than the weather. No end of guess work /learning to Diabetes.

Ain’t that the truth! Warmer temperatures generally make insulin users more sensitive to their injected insulin (so doses may need to be reduced, and/or risk of hypos can increase). But it’s not always very predictable or reliable!

Also we are generally more likely to be more active in warmer/sunnier weather - less likely to huddle indoors out of the cold/wind/rain!

When I was in Turkey I had to reduce my insulin as the low alarm kept going off. I just started Tresiba at a lower dose than the abasaglar I was on, levels seem OK so far apart from a bit of FOTF.

the heat affects my levels , they go down and you now they say a lady glows, well this lady sweats like a P.I.G

This time of year is not only warmer it is sniffier thanks to hay fever.
Although I am lucky to suffer very little from the runny nose and eyes, my skin tends to be more sensitive so I get more itchiness from any adhesive used in dia-tech.
I think this raises my BG which levels out the warm weather dips so I don't see much change.

My kid tends to go high with the heat. Thankfully the pump is doing a lot of the work to keep him nearer to range but I’m definitely having to change his pump set more often so I’m guessing it’s using more insulin.

I seem to sit bit higher at night, but still in the green. Warm at work this morning 25, pleased I’m finished for the day

Not sure how the hot weather is affecting my BG this year. So far there hasn't been much variation. I try and keep well hydrated and stay indoors in the hottest part of the day.
Last year and previous year was awful but I put that down to very high BG levels at the time.

Same, its my skin, i get a little bit of the eyes and nose but normally I can head that off with antihistamines, washing eyes and sterpcil or 2, but will be itchy more than anything.

The Omnipod 5 hasn't learned much during the hot spell - I know I need less insulin, but the algorithm hasn't noticed at all - so lots of pesky long-lasting lows...very frustrating.

It takes the MM780 quite a long time to catch up. I wish there was a “things are changing” flag you could set.

Does the Omnipod have a ‘sports’ setting you could use to aim for higher levels while it catches up?

This. I don’t think it’s very clever at all.
Still doesn’t understand my menstrual cycle at all. It’s been months.
No chance of it getting the heat

Yes but I don’t find it very effective actually. I end up going into much higher levels if I use it. Compared to the dash, I would just pause my insulin and then turn it back on when needed, that was much more effective for me.

Yes I agree hot weather cause hypos as well that is what I found

Yep, it’s called “Activity” - it aims to keep BG at 8.3 instead of the default 6.1 - but I’ve still been going low in this setting. I’ve started a list of things the O5 does badly compared to the Dash - I’m on my second sheet of A4 LOL. 😉
