A SELFLESS Walsall girl who has been diagnosed with an incurable condition will be raising funds for a charity that hopes to find a cure.

Grace Ryder, of The Delves, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes just days after her eighth birthday in June last year.

The Delves Junior School pupil now has an insulin pump fitted, which inserts the hormone into her body to control blood sugar levels.

And instead of fund-raising to buy a more discreet pump that will change her life for the better, Grace has decided to raise cash for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) – a charity that funds research to cure, treat and prevent the condition.

"I've had a horrible first year and I now wear a special insulin pump 24 hours a day," said Grace.
