Hi Carina - I'm still about and very well thank you.

I rarely visit the diabetes forums these days because I found them quite strange places to visit really. Particularly, some of the moderators who only seemed to believe that there was one view about anything in the world - i.e. their own. 🙂)

I'm still off metformin altogether despite living a fairly normal life diet-wise these days. However, I still keep off the starchy carbohydrates as much as I can - I never eat cereals and eat very little bread and potatoes. My testing, which is/was well documented somewhere on this forum and on other forums too, told me what I needed to do.

I regret to say that I have put quite a lot of the weight back on that I lost while going through my improvement programme. My numbers aren't as good as they used to be but I'm fairly happy with the situation that I have arrived at.

Our new granddaughter and sport take up most of my time these days.

Hope that you are doing well?

Very best wishes - John

Hi John, you know you have always been welcome here, good to hear you are doing well 🙂

I think he spends much less time on D forums these days. He is local to me and doing well..spending lots of time watching sport and with his family. Wallycorker also chairs a very successful DUK suppport group in a local village....Mainly older people who found it very difficult to get to the DUK evening group at the local hospital and really appreciate the chance to meet locally during the day 🙂 So busy enjoying life...
Hi Oskar,

Sorry that I haven't been in touch recently. I hope that you and your family are keeping well.

Fancy coming along to our March meeting? We some money to spend and the general concensus is that we would like to use it for projects linked to helping children with diabetes. Maybe you could point us in the right direction.

Hope that you haven't been getting banned from any more bead forums!!!! Forums are quite weird places to exist on! 🙂)

Very best wishes - John

Forums can be strange places to be at times. People often get the hump about inconsequentials mainly because the written word doesn't generally convey the appropriate feelings.

For me, my experience of moderators on this forum is that they are keen to ensure that no one opinion has sway (especially when it comes to how we deal with diabetes ..... low carbers, no carbers, heavy carbers makes no difference .... it's how best to control the condition person by person). Unfortunately, they also have to deal with some members who seem to think that only their method of controlling the condition is the right one and everyone else should follow suit. You see? It cuts both ways! 😉

Andy 🙂

Pleased to hear you are doing well Wallycorker 🙂 I too am still trying hard to lose weight (coming off slowly but surely). I am still managing to control by D/E at the moment and hope to continue to do so for a lot longer if i can help it so regarding my diabetes, i do plenty of excercise (gym and walking) and am trying to lose weight steadily by calorie counting so all in all i hope by the summer to be a couple of stones lighter (I'd like to lose 5 stones in total).

Stick with things Carina! I'm certain that you know the way to go!

Good luck with the weight loss efforts - I need to re-focus a on that myself. I lost 5 stones but have managed to put around 4 of them back on. I'm not happy with that!

Very best wishes - John
