Do many members still pursue pastimes even if they after they where diagnosed with the Big D l have cut down in walking in the country in case l am took ill in the middle of no where.
There's no need to cut down on anything you enjoy doing (except scoffing cakes, of course). As a T2, unless you're taking glucose-lowering meds like gliclazide or insulin, you are very unlikely to suffer a hypo. Exercise improves your insulin sensitivity, so go for it!
In fact it's the opposite. When my son was diagnosed with type 1 I was determined to not only carry on doing things we enjoyed, but also try new things and not be put off by the pre-planning that is necessary. He is only 12 but regularly walks, cycles, does gymnastics and taekwondo, swims. He has done kayaking with Scouts, tree-trekking, and scuba-diving at Centerparcs. I refuse to say he can't do something because of diabetes!

Hi Charlie, no need to cut down on anything except the starchy carbs.
Exercise is very good for you esp walking.
I'm on insulin but for most of my working life I have worked on farms and or run my own Welsh cob stud, having up to 15 horses on the premises at times. So as you can imagine that's a lot of hard physical work 7 days a week. Oh and I also managed to walk my dog 3 times a day which clocked up at least 6 miles of walking everyday.
