I went to bed at 7.3 & I'm now 17.6

How on earth?

I've noticed my waking bloods now are over 10

I'm going to up the glargine but a jump that big isn't right is it?

Might your lantus have been compromised so it's not working properly? Night hypo and rebound? An increase of 10 overnight, if it's been a steady rise, would indicate your lantus completely failed to compensate for your liver if it wasn't because of the other two reasons. Hope you can get it sorted for tonight!

I set my alarm to test at 1am as that's my usual dropping point & my bloods hasn't moved.

I'm going to up it 10% & pray it works.

It's just with it going up 10mmol I'm not happy

I'd see how things go for the rest of the day too, to see if it is working at all - as you say 10mmol is a big rise for no carbs! What about your pen - might it be faulty? What pen do you use? I know I used to occasionally have problems with my Autopen when it didn't deliver the dose correctly. Are you sure you injected?

Was interested in the recent thread by those with CGM who reported that they have completely failed to see overnight hypo-highs in action. I had a late carby snack last night which meant I had to go to bed with a unit or two IOB and woke to either 12 or 14 this morning (Contour suggested both when I rechecked). I'm putting mine down to a general rise/dose fail.

I wonder whether yours would have retested at 17, or might have been a bit lower if you had retested?

My money is on Lantus, and I suspect you may need more than one +10% shift.

Hope you get your fbgs under control soon

What did you eat for dinner?

Northerner - I can't remember what my pen is, it's silver & getting a bit long in the tooth.

Mike - I was thinking of putting it back up to 54 which is what I've been on for years until last nov when it got dropped, I don't think 44 is right amount as I seem to be on 2 units of novo to 10 grams & I'm usually 1.5 units to 10 grams

Benny - it was home made beef & onion curry with boiled rice, I had it Tuesday night with no huge morning blood (ok I was 12.01)

Crikey, bet that was a shock, hope they settle down for u.

I managed to speak to a nurse, she thinks my glargine has failed but testing now, I'm hypo. I was 22.2 at lunch & 14.6 2 hours after

I can't see it's decided to kick in now?

Could be an injection site issue maybe?

I've known some people have injections 'lock away' in lipo buildups only to be released all at once hours (or even days) later 😱

I had used a new site so maybe that was the issue

I've been having problems with my sugars for a while... and I noticed when I used a new site that i had a change in the way my insulin seemed to be reacting (although my DSN checked them and said they seem fine) and there now seems to be a longer and steadier release of insulin. Could it be that you are coming down with something? I had the opposite, went to bed at 21.1 :( and woke to 6.6! xx

What??? 😱

This is probably a silly question but don't you all rotate the sites? I was told to do this every time I inject and I try to make sure I do, working clockwise round my navel and thighs.

I do but I was trying further round on my hip (more towards my bum)
Not a lady like position to be in when holding a needle

Know what you mean. I find it phsically impossible to do it there, I don't bend that way any more.

I did laugh when I saw myself in the mirror - ahhh the glamour 🙂

I stuck a cannula in that bit, last week. 100% virgin territory.

No idea what sort of a site it was though as the thing came completely unstuck in under an hour and I couldn't be bothered to try it again. Just a complete waste of another ?1.53 of the NHS's dosh .....

Which site do you use & which cannulas do you use?
