Morning, I have been awake since about 4am but stayed in bed. I did visit the bathroom around 7 and returned to bed. I took my “waking BG” just after 8am, is this sufficient time to be called a waking BG or should I have done it when I did wake at 4?

If you are trying to compare results then from a scientific point of view then being consistent in what you do is important.
If you want to compare today with tomorrow or with yesterday then testing at the same time having done exactly the same things is needed but having said that in real life that is nearly impossible.
The best thing is to record what you get when as all that data will be useful.
What reading did you get?

I apologise, I shouldn’t be jovial about my readings.
