Morning Forumers,

So, after about an hours sleep last night I woke and was wet around the head and neck with sweat which hasn’t happened for a while. Evening routine had been the same as usual - dinner/ walk/ bedtime snack and cocoa. This morning by BG was higher than it’s been fir a while at 7.5.

Any thoughts? Is there a relationship between the sweating and higher waking BG?

Thanks all
Largesse1

If you were still taking Gliclazide I would have suggested you had a hypo whilst sleeping, to which you body responded by dumping a lot of glucose into your system. Although this is unlikely if you no longer have it in your system.

In that situation, though, when your levels get too low the body responds by releasing adrenaline to cause the liver to release glucose, but which also causes sweating. So if some other reason triggered a release of adrenaline, that could explain both of your symptoms.

As a one-off it is not something I would worry about. If it persists then you should speak to your G.P. as it could be a sign of something else.

Sorry to hear this @Largesse1!

Best bet is to keep a meter by your bed, and check BG if it happens again.

Certainly something to keep a eye on though if it keeps happening!

I would have expected your BG to be significantly higher than 7.5 this morning if you had had a rebound from a hypo but best to keep meter by the bed and test at the time if it happens again. What did you have for dinner?

thanks. I had lamb and cabbage for dinner and pomegranate seeds with yoghurt for afters (after my evening walk). i have pomegranate seeds and cream or yoghurt most evenings so it wasn’t that, I don’t think. not sweats last night and BG was 6.
