Welcome to the forum, gosh 10 years is a long time to ignore it and not suffer some unpleasant consequences but pleased you have made a sensible decision now.
Are you on any medication and do you know what your HbA1C is now as that will determine what would be a appropriate dietary approach that is one that you can enjoy and therefore will be more likely to be sustainable.
If no meds or just metformin then this link may help you with a way forward, any other meds may mean you need to be more cautious with low carb. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
Dietary changes are going to have the most impact but increasing exercise if you can and losing weight if you need to will also help.//

Welcome to the forum @Dan R1

Great to hear you are starting over with your relationship to your diabetes. It’s never too late, and any positive changes can have a real impact going forward.

Do you take amy medication to help you with your glucose management?

Is there anything that has encouraged you to start tackling your diabetes differently now?

Thank for encouraging words. Well mother and brother are both type2 and years ago use to test my sugar levels using brothers tester and has always been 5.5 or 6 so just assumed I’ll be fine. until fainting at work once. Then feeling dizzy decided to go Dr’s who I rarely had to see. Who did various tests and my glucose level was 31. Blood test followed then loads of meds. This was years ago and I regret to say but all the Dr’s appointments and time off work etc.. In addition to a dedicated lifestyle change was to much for me “cuz i felt fine” got neglected. Until very recently.

Hope you are able to get to grips with things OK, and get everything checked out.
