Hi all,
i could do with some advice. I came home from work today, feeling quite unwell. Within minutes i was dripping with sweat and began vomiting, this was about 4.30pm, so i went to bed a slept for a few hours. When i woke i was feeling extreamly thirsty so i slowly sipped a cold drink - within minutes i bought it back up and every time i have a drink i vomit it again. i decided not to take my metformin this evening - for obvious reasons. my blood sugar just before 1am was 7.4mmols. anyone got any ideas how i could keep fluids down as im feeling really thirsty.

Sorry to hear you've got the bug! If you've got someone who can get to the shops try some flattened coke or lemonade - buy both types so if you BG's drop you've got the sugary stuff, otherwise sip the diet stuff. Apparently there is something in these that can help calm thing down?! (don't ask me how!) They can be flattened with a good stirring. If you're wary of the lacative effect of the diet drinks try tepid (not hot or cold) water - it's a bit easier on tum somehow especially if you sip it. All the best & if you're really struggling to keep anything down call the doc, you don't want to end up badly dehydrated. Hope you'reon the mend soon!
