Well, all seemed to go well on friday...vitrectomy, delamination or something & laser to cauterise any bleeds. The staff at Bmec are almost universally wonderful, really really kind & efficient, the place is clean & i even had a room to myself - heaven compared to a previous experience at a more local hospital! :D

Still can't see much out of the operated on eye (need drops throughout the day & a plastic eye shield at night) but i can 'see' like a tide / horizon line in that eye that sort of sloshes around, eugh! I think it's good that its getting lower each day... The pain is much less now but uf znyone else is due this op i strongly recommend getting a stash of audio books sorted as in the first days you dont evenwant the good eyeopen as the bad one tracks with it and so gets sore, so its easier to rest both eyes - plus ive been sooosleepy these first days post the (general anaesthetic) op. anyway, nufffor now, trying not to get overreliant on painkillers, woos that i am!

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Not sure if comes across but am trying to be reassuring- if worst happens, the op whilst not the best way i could think of spending time, really isnt too bad.
🙂
Love & best wishes to all & thanks to those who were kind enough to reassure me last week. Back to my dark room lol...

Thank you for the update Twitchy 🙂 I hope that you have a speedy recovery and that the operation has solved the problems you have been having. I think you are very brave, and it is reassuring to hear from someone so soon after the operation, just how it was whilst it is fresh in your mind. Take care 🙂

😱 thanks Northerner, i'm not brave though - if I'd had a choice i'd have run for the hills lol! I ummed/aahed about posting on this, as hopefully most people will never need to know, but some might and one thing that made me feel better going through all this was knowing someone from work who'd had it done too, so i could ask about it. It helped to know what to expect and be reassured that it was all perfectly bearable lol! 😱 Feeling sooo much perkier today, yay!

Nope! It's going down a bit daily (still very 'sloshy' , good job i'm on dry land or it would be seasick central lol) and kind of getting rounder as it drops ...bit freaky but far preferable to the old bleeds as they messed up the whole view as it were. The bit above the black tide is clearish, but more blurred than normal. Once all has calmed down it will be interesting to see what my glasses prescription is & if it's changed! Meanwhile, i still have a huuuge pupil on that side, my toddler has been giving me some very wary looks lol... All good fun... 🙄

Hi Twitchy. Good to see you posting. Thank you for the update because I was wondering how you had got on. I hope that once things have settled down that the vision in your eye is much better xx

Thank you for posting Twitchy, you're incredibly brave! Wishing you a speedy recovery x

Well I for one think it's really interesting, so I'm grateful Twitchy - of course I hope I'll never need one, but as you say - it's reassuring.

Is it always a General?
