Hi is it safe to take vitimin d with metformin. I was recently diganosed type 2. I ask as I am having terrible muscle weakness and fatigue. My dr for a different condition sugested vitimin d may help.

Sullipepper, have you had your vitamin D level tested recently?

Whilst vitamin D is a natural vitamin we are only topping up by supplementing, I see no reason it would be dangerous with Metformin. However, it is possible to overdose on Vitamin D, and excessively high levels can have negative impacts too, so best to ascertain what your levels actually are before considering supplements.

There are many, many causes of muscle weakness and fatigue, so this very worthy of a discussion with your doctor, if you haven't already done that.

Whenever I start taking something new, I use a drug interaction checker to make sure the new meds combo is okay. Try webmd.com for example (I can never bring links to life!). 🙂

Sullipepper, have you had your vitamin D level tested recently?

With the current shortage of blood testing tubes, vitamin D is one of the tests I have seen mentioned that they will not be doing at the moment.
