I almost purchased a tube of these - in a metal orange colour container- which looked just like glucotabs and other similar glucose tablets. Don't know what made me look closer but so glad I did as they had NO glucose but only sorbitol with the laxative advice note as well.

I used to take Vitamin C daily but since my diagnosis I have stopped. Not sure it it is safe for us to take for not.Any advice?
I am still taking the other supplements, Vit D, Garlic, Fish Oil and MacuShield but I seem to remember Vit C is not advised.

Well, in your case I don't think it would matter Vince, as I'm pretty sure you've either been misdiagnosed or were very marginal and have got things under great control 🙂 I think there is some research that it might have a marginal effect on blood sugars, but as far as I'm aware not conclusive and possibly only in large quantities.

Thanks N.. In the early days I was terrified of most things to be honest, getting a little braver now in my approach.

It’s very hard to overdose on Vitamin C. If you take too much, you just pee it into the toilet. That’s why these folk who recommend mega doses of Vitamin C for all sorts of ills are talking rubbish. I don’t know of any report that it lowers BG.

Almost certainly nothing to worry about. In normal doses, you won't take in enough sweetener to encounter laxative effects.
However, overdosing on vitamin C itself can be useful to produce more acidic urine and lessen chance of developing urinary tract infections - I've seen it used effectively by a couple of young men in Mexico who had suffered spinal injuries and used catheters.

Again Useful Info Copepod. Thanks. Beginning to think my daily dose of 1000mg effervescent tablet may be reinstated 🙂
Taken it for years and always seemed to prevent me suffering really bad colds and flu although I still got mild ones.
