So following on from yesterday I went to see the gp this morning and I felt like I was playing good news bad news! BP off the scale yesterday was slightly better today. Doc confused as it seems to be up and down like a yoyo looking at all previous readings, so I am having a 24 hr test next week. Temperature was high so she thought I had a viral infection. Didn't know why I was feeling nauseous as she said this was not a sign of high blood pressure (despite me reading three sites on the net that said it was ) Told me not to eat if I felt that bad. Gave a sample that was infection free but was then told it had blood in it so that has gone to the lab :(
Then she had my Hba1c results - the ones they messed up last week! This was 8 and my baseline result, so as I have only been on the diet a few weeks I was expecting higher but she has decided I will need tablets. When I said that I had a few weeks left to go before my next review and I was in the 6's already in morning, she shrugged and said yes but you will still need tablets! And most annoying I forgot to ask about strips for testing because I was so stressed my it all! Anyway there's always next time 🙂

Hi my blood preasure was still high dispite taking two lots of pils for it so the doc lent me a BP monitor to use at home for three weeks in the end we figured out why it was going high, the stress of going to the doctors was the cause.

:D I can well believe that, I get very stressed with this doctor! My least favourite of the four there in the practice but she specialises in Diabetes so I am probably stuck with her! 😱

Have you tried the technique of imagining the scary Dr in say a clowns outfit - it might tale the edge off your meetings.

I hope things work out. When I saw the work doctor my blood pressure was a little high, so he chatted to me for a while and did it again and it had gone down. There is a phenomena called white coat blood pressure, where it goes up if we have to see a doctor. Most take this into account and sometimes take a second reading later in the appointment when you have had a chance to be reassured.
