Relationship to Diabetes

After a flare up of my Colitis and my pancreas not producing essential enzymes any more I've got to put some weight on reasonably promptly. The dietician fully aware of my diabetes but the consensus of the medical team is that I need to temporarily at least eat more like a normal and stick the insulin in to match the extra carbs.

Wish me luck.

Good luck, hope it goes well and isn't too traumatic 🙂

Well I guess once you've got some weight back on you'll be able to return to normal won't you? Maintaining is easier than gaining or losing so hopefully the pain won't be too lengthy 🙂

Is more fat not an option, I find increasing fat easier to work with since I don't work well with volume required from carbs?

I'll certainly be trying to err on the side of extra fat/protein. Luckily I do tolerate most carbs quite well. I am looking forward to get back to what I now consider normal.

Well - you'll get there I'm sure by a process of trial and error - you don't want to eat that many carbs you consign the rest of your life to too high insulin and the storage of more and more fat - but just 'enough'. For me that's 100g carb a day - but you are not a 5ft 4, bony (naturally bony) sedentary girl ! - so you will have your own 'natural' limit - cos we all do.
