I have just been given a meter by the nurse. It's a Freestyle Freedom Lite with 10 strips. She has put 50 strips on my prescription and 200 Lancets. However I can't have any until 14 days before they are due which is 28th June. She told me test some days before breakfast and 2 hrs. after dinner but just 2 or 3 times a week. Is this about normal for type 2 testing.
She showed me how to use the meter and I tested myself with a good result - 4.9. BP was high (white coat syndrome), weight about the same and feet good. Still waiting for retinopathy.

Hi thelis. As I read your post 14 days before the 28th is today, or am I being a bit thick? Lol Actually just thought maybe you mean 28th June is 14 days before your next prescription is due (12th July)

Going by my own experience and that of others on here you have been quite lucky to get a meter and any strips on prescription as a T2 not on meds like Gliclazide, Byetta or insulin. The tests she's told you to do are quite helpful to see a trend but not good at testing what certain foods do to your levels. Your reading today was excellent though. XXXXX

You are right 28th June is 14 days before my next prescription is due. Yes according to all the reports on here I am lucky to get a meter and strips on prescription. I was very pleased with the reading today. I go for another blood test in July and see the nurse just after that. How is your kitchen coming along? Hope its all ok.
