Virtual appointments with consultants from your own home or GP surgery are part of a plan to reduce "non-essential" visits to Welsh hospitals.

Patients will be expected to be more careful about exercise and what they eat and drink under a Welsh Government plan to reduce pressure on the NHS.

It comes after warnings that future health and care needs would not be met without urgent transformation.

A £100m fund will back the best ideas, with emphasis on keeping people well.

Ministers said they expected to see progress within three years and significant change within a decade.

I don’t like video consultations, you can miss so much clinical information from not getting your hands on a patient, or, at the very least, a stethoscope. Consultants getting into their Range Rovers and doing clinics in the community is a better idea.

What gets me about these bright ideas is the assumption that everyone will have access to the technology and know how to use it - probably even harder if you are ill or in pain 🙄 :(

Perhaps we could dispense with the patients entirely...just use a hologram instead.

Having worked in both training and customer relation based jobs, letting in customers/The Public is really bothersome. Things would run a lot better without them. (See Basiel Faulty)
