Hi, I have been sent this request, so putting it here in case anyone fits the bill and wants to take part:

Hi there,

We are currently casting a commercial campaign for the prescriptive medicine Victoza and we are looking for real Type 2 patients who take this medication to feature in our advertising. We’d love it if you could respond with your interest and/or pass this email with flyer attached on to your network!

Successful candidates will be paid £1000 - £3000 for their involvement with all expenses covered with regards to travel, accommodation if required etc.

You must be available for a one day shoot (in London) during the week commencing February 9th 2015 and you must be between 45 – 55yrs old!

If this is you or someone you know – we need you/them to email us back with the following information before 25th January:

-Full Name
-Age
-UK Location
-Photo of yourself
-How long you have been taking Victoza for your Diabetes.
-Availability for a Skype interview OR meeting in Shepherds Bush W1 between the 22nd – 27th January, day or night.

Please email beth@etcasting.com with your application!

Fairly narrow criteria on the age, I think.

I'm obviously not a candidate for this in a good many ways LOL - BUT ........

I am just a bit bepuzzled as to why there is a need to advertise any prescription-only medication in the UK ?

Maybe to persuade people to request it?

That doesn't work in the UK, unless your GP was going to prescribe one of a choice of drugs that it falls into. Eg BP - they are always supposed to start with an ACE, and the CCG tell em which is first choice to prescribe. So you get Lisinopril and it's no good asking for Ramipril instead. If the CCG don't want you to have it, unless there is a VERY good clinically proven reason for it, you won't get it.

My Olmesartan was swapped for Losartan cos it was cheaper, even though I'd have rather stayed on the O cos I knew I was OK on it.

I'd happily become a male model for a day - right age group - wrong medication - i suspect id put people off using it though lol - 1 look at me and that would do it.

Most likely it's to advertise to prescribing doctors, specialist nurses etc. Laws prevent advertising aimed at patients in UK. Magazines in USA often have adverts aimed at general public, ending "ask your doctor about x".
