Welcome!
It is more like to be high blood sugars causing tiredness!

I didn't have this tiredness before i went on the medication. Am seeing nurse on Wednesday, we will see.

Stew it's quite possible not to have symptoms for ages then constantly dealing with it all suddenly gets a bit too much for the body to cope with - and you feel orrible. After all you do have to remember - sudden desperate tiredness where you can't keep your eyes open is one of the prime symptoms of too high BGs normally whatever type of diabetes we happen to have. Quite probably it would have happened anyway whether you'd been to the docs or not.

Metformin can't sort the diabetes on its own - what are you doing yourself to help it help you? Extra exercise, cutting down on any carbohydrates (food and drink) in general not only sugar, what?

There's absolutely no question that all diabetes responds to the treatment triad - diet, exercise and appropriate medication where necessary.
