Sounds great @Sally71 - hope it's an experience that really builds her confidence and indpendence and one she will remember for many years.

Such good news @Sally71.

The school are clearly very supportive, and they will have been helped by how organised both you and Charlie are, and the way that you encouraged her to gradually do her own cannulas. Great to hear of how well the staff prepared with you and Charlie. If they have sent an extra member of staff because Charlie is on the trip, then all the staff on the trip will be happy. Win win for everyone.

I look forward to hearing how she gets on, (and whether she switches back to you doing her set changes when she gets back). Enjoy the time to yourself. Treat yourself.

She's back! She had a lot of hypos, unfortunately everyone including my daughter completely forgot about the existence of temporary basal rates (even though they had been told about them and given instructions how to set them up) which would have gone a long way towards reducing or even eliminating those hypos! However they dealt with them and carried on, and daughter has come back saying the whole trip was the most amazing fun she's ever had, she wants to go back and is really sad that she's had to come home. Success! 🙂

I did the pump refill on Sunday... Although I think she would have done, I just took over because I could see she was very tired, and I think we should take turns now just so that neither of us forgets! (Although I've been doing them for over 6 years so could probably do them in my sleep now...:D)

Glad to hear she enjoyed herself, and handled the hypos - she'll remember and know what to do next time 🙂

Fantastic news @Sally71 you now have a very confident young lady on the loose 😱:D
Tell Charlie to count her lucky stars that there are no carbs in snails so she didn't have to eat them to correct her hypo's

I can imagine how relieved you were when she walked through the door.

Fantastic news to hear hw well Charlie managed and how much she enjoyed it. It is easy to forget about TBRs when you are busy, but no doubt she might remember them next time, ...or not. No matter as all went well.

Set changes alternating mean we all won the bet!! I suspect it is kind of shared activity that has just become part of Charlie’s Diabetes now.

So pleased for you both. Well done. I look forward to hearing where Charlie goes next.
