Hi All

Had a bad day yesterday. Got a call to go into the docs on mon morning as something showed up on my retinopathy. Really worried about it as I don't know what's wrong and I have all weekend to brood on it!

Also feeling down and quiet today, my bs are all over the place, shot up frm 5.6 to 12.5 this morning for no good reason other than i feel low mood wise.

Work collegues aren't helping as they think it's funny to take the **** out of my Diabetes. grrrrrrrr! Wish hey could have it for a month then maybe they might just f**k off!!!!😡

Sorry to hear that your colleguess are taking the mick out of you, you could tell them to...as you say off😉 as for your appointment on monday i would say that is a good thing as now they have picked somthing up they can now help you? and start treatment for anything they have found... as for your bs have you been eating normally?
Chin up hun x

Can't imagine why anyone would take the mick out of diabetes. Still, with the massive rise in cases, there is every chance one of the ignorant idiots may end up with it, fingers crossed.... :D

Docs are annoying when they ring before the weekend, to call you in for something - talk about leaving you hanging. Easier said than done, but try not to brood over it, make the most of your weekend - they come around all too slowly for my liking!

Big hug, hope you feel better soon.

Hi Megan

It must seem a long time until Monday but take heart from the fact if there was an urgency to what your G.P. want's to talk to you about he would have told you to attend immediately.

Your stress levels are probably causing your blood sugar levels to vary. You cannot change what is happening as it is out of your control so please try to relax, easier said than done I know.

((((hugs)))).
Maisie.

Thanks everyone

Feeling a bit calmer now 🙂 (breathe!) not looking forward testing before lunch in a minute incase it's high. Can only put it down to stress really as I ate what I normally eat for breakfast but maybe I should review some other options. Any breakfast ideas guys??? I don't react well to fruit! 🙂

Really?

What do they do? How insensitive.....😡

Mainly stupid comments along the line of 'your not worrying about/testing your sugar again are you?!'

Like its something I should have got over and have 100% under control by now.

Ignorance basically but it grinds on you.

Pillocks - I not only wish diabetes on them but hope their kidneys fail and their legs drop off. Not really of course but thinking this on such occasions can give me immense pleasure, sometimes .... :D

Meanwhile you can dance round saying Oh well perhaps if you'd done a bit more testing and been a bit more worried about your own blood sugar instead of spending your time taking the p out of me, you too could be complication free - just like I am !

Possibly Megan, if these are early changes, by taking action now (curbing the carbs, exercising, eating to your meter etc) you can reverse them. At the least you should be able to stop it getting worse in future.

I don't really understand why you've been called to the GP though, I thought if anything needed to be done, it was a straight referral from the retinopathy service to the hospital opthalmologist to re-check/confirm whatever it is and take any further action (laser or whatever) that is necessary?

GP's can't do any of that so I'm a bit puzzled why you have to see him, really ......

Yep idiots!

I'd probably suggest that they really need to study some Control Theory and try to understand why even in a well understood system you still need continuous control inputs. It's not like you set of on a journey and steer initially in the right direction and never look at the road in front of you again is it? However, such learning and concepts and probably beyond their brains.

Like your analogy Mark, spot on! 🙂

Actually - why don't you report them to your boss for harassment?

You could say you don't particularly need them to do anything physically at the moment but you want it recorded in writing, and for them to keep an eye on the situation and nip it in the bud smartly if it starts to get out of hand?

Is that the correct procedure, anybody who knows employment law better than me, please?

Good luck today Megan 🙂

Hope all goes well Megan xxx

Hi everyone thanks for the good luck

Turned out to be nothing. Apparently the retinopathy wanted up to date blood pressure details for me as I have some very slight changes in my eyes. Blood pressure as fine. I gave the surgery a bit of a talking to though as they made me worry all weekend when they know damn well that I suffer anxiety attacks!

Tut! It probably didn't help your BP over the weekend too! Glad to hear it was something and nothing, and shame on them for not letting you know it was a minor issue! 🙄

I was recently told to repeat a liver function test that I'd had done for my annual review. Then I was told to make an appointment to see 'one of the doctors'. It turned out that whoever had seen the results had not looked at the ones from all my previous tests - if they had they would have seen that there wasn't actually a problem and it had already been investigated ages ago! 😡 Had me worried for about 2 weeks!

Glad it turned out OK but they could have done a bit more to put you at ease over the weekend, most doctors receptionists seem to think they are as qualified as the doctors so they should have know it was nothing to worry about!!!
