Could you have an ear infection? Get an appointment!
i've suffered from ear infections regulary and had this before... but no infection at moment however could be middle ear .....oh i really dont want to go anywhere its nasty out there and i reallly dont feel like driving i think i'll go back to bed and ring doc later thanks for your help x
Certainly don't drive if you feel like that! What about ringing NHS Direct? Hope you are feeling better after your sleep🙂
Some years ago I had a bout of labyrinthitis with these symtoms. I found travel sickness pills very helpful but was unable to drive for over a fortnight. It also affected my hearing which has never fully recovered on the LHS. There is a website at:-

It sounds like you could be suffering from Postural Hypotension.
It is not uncommon for diabetics to suffer from it. I have it myself and normally get it most when getting out of a chair or out of bed, it makes me go light headed and my balance is effected when it happens and I feel like I'm going to faint but it usually passes after a few minutes.
Some people get much more severe symptoms than I do, but I would definately go to see the Doctor if I were you, as your symtoms could be a number of other things too.
I have much the same problem, especially on the stairs. My head starts to spin and if I'm not careful I'll fall over. I've learned to move slowly when standing or sitting and not to bend over without something to hang on to. The dizziness and the tinnitus both started after I was diagnosed, I don't know if the two are linked but both my mother and maternal grandfather had M?ni?re's Disease, which is basically tinnitus and dizziness. I'm waiting for an appointment to see an ENT specialist.
You should definitely see your doctor.
