Hey all,

Just wondered if any of you have used the versa spa spray tanning booth before. I was on the website and it says it uses a sugar based product in the tan formula and diabetics must consult with their doctor. has anyone used this before ???

sorry sweety!

Does it not provide manufacturing information? I know if you went to my GP and consulted him before that you would get a very blank look.......!

haha lol I think my doctor would be aswell. Its just that its a new salon with this new automatic tanning booth and I was on the website and that was mentioned. Do you think that a sugar base product used within in the tanning stuff will affect my blood sugars??? thats all i really want to know lol 😛

Hi, dont know the answer but it must get into your blood stream as a friend of mine had a really bad allergic reaction to a spray tan and was spotty for 2 weeks, gp said they seep through skin.

I would say products do get into blood through skin kinda like osmosis. From brief aromatherapy experiences, and having had a few tests carried out, they proved the stuff gets into your blood stream.

Thinking about it, your blood takes the nutrients round the body and takes the rubbish away, so anything you put on to your skin must get into your blood.

Have no experience of tanning booths, but with my GP anything he has no experience or knowledge og gets a blank look. You might be better off talking to the nurse as nurses seem to be better informed.

I think there are a couple of issues here. Many places want to cover themselves by saying "people with diabetes must consult a doctor first". I'm pretty sure that sugar can't enter the bloodstream from skin - or, if it does, in very small quantities. With any new skin products, it's wise to apply to a small patch of skin and observe for, say 48 hours, before covering a wider area.

Seems like a good question to ask Diabetes UK Careline - http://www.diabetes.org.uk/en/How_we_help/Careline/
