Was given this info below and i didn't know whether to share it....Obviously the more people that know there is a problem means people can have back up insulin, regime to follow etc if something happens to their pump....
I've spoken to a lady from my local support group who's son has had a motor error on the Veo pump and found a few things out.
* The pump came up with motor error on Tuesday half way through a bolus, after phoning the US they said they would replace it.
* She spoke to the DSN and another boy in the neighbouring hospital also had a motor error on the Veo a week or so before.
* On Wednesday, the mum spoke to customer support at Medtronic in the UK who admitted after some pressing that, "yes, they have had a few Veos back and it's a design fault" and that the "software controls can't deal with small increments - hence motor error." and that there will not be a recall.
* The DSN spoke to the rep at Medtronic who didn't know about it and hadn't been told, after he spoke to Medtronic he has said that the pumps going out now have been rectified.
* However, there is a huge back load of pumps as they haven't been giving out the old ones with the bad software. So it could take her son 2-8 weeks to get a new pump.
Obviously, this is worrying. I guess the thing is there must be a certain amount of failures before they recall or maybe issue any warnings. The percentages of pumps failing to the percentages of new starters on the Veo must also be small. Medtronic must be watching the situation closely to see what happens....
I guess as well, that not all of them are going to motor error either.
This is the third motor error in the Veo pump that i've heard of in as many weeks. Not good for a product that only launched in June...
Not good.....
