Was given this info below and i didn't know whether to share it....Obviously the more people that know there is a problem means people can have back up insulin, regime to follow etc if something happens to their pump....

I've spoken to a lady from my local support group who's son has had a motor error on the Veo pump and found a few things out.

* The pump came up with motor error on Tuesday half way through a bolus, after phoning the US they said they would replace it.
* She spoke to the DSN and another boy in the neighbouring hospital also had a motor error on the Veo a week or so before.
* On Wednesday, the mum spoke to customer support at Medtronic in the UK who admitted after some pressing that, "yes, they have had a few Veos back and it's a design fault" and that the "software controls can't deal with small increments - hence motor error." and that there will not be a recall.
* The DSN spoke to the rep at Medtronic who didn't know about it and hadn't been told, after he spoke to Medtronic he has said that the pumps going out now have been rectified.
* However, there is a huge back load of pumps as they haven't been giving out the old ones with the bad software. So it could take her son 2-8 weeks to get a new pump.

Obviously, this is worrying. I guess the thing is there must be a certain amount of failures before they recall or maybe issue any warnings. The percentages of pumps failing to the percentages of new starters on the Veo must also be small. Medtronic must be watching the situation closely to see what happens....

I guess as well, that not all of them are going to motor error either.

This is the third motor error in the Veo pump that i've heard of in as many weeks. Not good for a product that only launched in June...

Not good.....

Thanks Becca!

This is really good to know, thanks Becca. This week I experienced x3 "No Delivery" alarms when I did a set change. It was really scary and I immediately thought my pump was broken and did a small panic (at 6.45am I went from ZERO to CHAOS in approximately 5 seconds. I gave it a code 2 on my richter scale of high drama- pretty serious, even for me).

I tried to stay calm. Threw the NEW set in the bin after 3 "No Deliveries", there was nothing glarring at me and no obvious bent or occluded needle. Mysterious. It must have been a damaged set or something as went on a new one. These kind of things are worrying (good to know, pls dont think I mean you shouldnt have posted Bec!) as yes we are all dependable on a new machine which like anything has the potential to go wrong.

Like you have said, the number of people on the Veo must be small? But a quite significant growth in numbers now it is in month 3 after its release. I am concerned that if the numbers get more then considering the use of the machine that Medtronic will contact its clients, if not recaling at least. We are all registered. They seem efficient so far, but your experiences Becca will be better quantified than mine- we (me and medtronic) have spoken 3 times only.

I can tell you now if I so much as sniff a "motor error" design fault on my machine I shall be straight downstairs hotwiring a car and I'll be up that motorway to Watford Medtronic Epi-Centre telling them my woes, dont you worry! (and exchanging it for a blue one? 😉)

Thanks,
Lou x

Perhaps you could pick me up en route, Lou! :D:D:D

Thanks Becca! I will keep a close eye on this! 🙂

There wont be room on the motorway as i would have had it closed down whilst the police escort whizzed us there at 200mph!🙂

Lou, we had exactly the same problem with the NO DELIVERY - it happened 3 times for the same set change and i ended up ringing Adrienne - she had never had it but suggested i had not attached the tubing to the resevoir properly and to start all over again. I did and it worked!😱🙂

Thanks Becca (again):DBev

LOL BEV and MAND! You pair of nutters!!!

It is abit worrying this "No Delivery" thing isnt it. Because it is not "Suspend" which is what I think threw me. It also didnt help I was getting ready for work which meant panic stations-I couldnt think straight. I dont like just trying another set either as I am very aware of how many sets I have and the amount I have in margin for errors, not many!

I have taken a look at your reference there N, thanks. I saw something similar not long ago and checked my LOT numbers and I wasnt affected. Again, strange- in a (perhaps I am being too overconfident) way, I know there was nothing wrong with how I put the set on and how I kept rechecking it. The panic was OMG it must be a pump fault. Gasp!

Hey northerner, did you scroll down on that article and read that one of the people writing is an athelete with an HbA1c of 6? I thought of you. If he can have one, so can you!
