A venture capital firm has made ?2 million selling a small hospital to the NHS, less than a year after it opened.

Albion Ventures received ?8 million for Nelson House, a 32-bed mental health hospital in Gosport, Hants.

It was purchased by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and the healthcare company Care UK, which formed a joint venture to do so.
Albion, which describes itself as ?one of the largest independent venture capital investors in the UK?, funded building of the hospital, which is a ?half-way house? back to normal living for those who have experienced severe mental health problems.

It opened last May and was run by Albion and another firm, Orchard Portman Hospitals. It is exclusively for NHS patients.

In a statement intended for investors, Albion championed how much money it had made.
