Using Blood Glucose Monitor.

Does anybody else have this issue?
When I do a test, and I use the lance on my fingertip,
it takes ages to squeeze enough blood out for the test strip to activate the monitor.
I wonder if perhaps I am using the lance on the wrong place (fingertip.)

Ps, I chose the Tiger as my photo, simply because I consider them to be the most beautiful, and majestic animal on earth.

There should be a manual with the meter to show you possible places - it is not the very end of the finger - I am a musician and would have no chance getting blood from a fingertip. The side of the pad is the place I use.

There are a few things which can help us get more blood out of our stones ... I mean fingers.
- Most lancet devices have a "switch/dial" to adjust the depth of the prick. Dialling this up should get out more blood
- the side of our fingers usually give up blood more easily than the "pad". The added advantage is this protects the part of your finger we use for typing, etc.
- the warmer our fingers are, the better our blood flows. I often warm my fingers on the side of my freshly brewed mug of tea. Or you could just wash your hands with warmer water.

Alternatively, you could try using the teeth from your beautiful tiger 🙂

I'm not sure what you mean by this? Maybe I'm misunderstanding but the meter itself should be activated (switch on) immediately after you insert the strip and say to apply sample or similar xx

My kit says we shouldn’t squeeze blood out, just massage gently. Side of tip of finger ok

1 - Warm your hand. (I used to immerse in a basin of hot water.)
2- Insert test strip in meter.
3 - Hold hand below height of heart and prick finger.
4 - Massage gently towards fingertip and test the blood drawn.
If you find you still don't get enough blood to test, try adjusting the lancing device to lance a little deeper.

I think he means that if you don’t get enough blood on the strip you get an error, depending on which kit you use. Some strips need a significantly larger drop of blood in order to work.
