Phone 111 or out of hours GP for advice. If on insulin and aware of sick day rules, then consider small dose of short acting. In any case, drink plenty of no sugar fluids.

What do u do if u wake up feeling unwell test your bg and it high

If you are on insulin then use a correction dose if not on insulin and feeling very ill then ring out of hours for advice.

Any type 2 folk got advice.......

What would the advice be from the doctors.....?

Would eating something carb free help in order to fill the stomach and stop any morning liver dumping going on.....?

Sorry, I have no idea what I'd do. I'd probably drink lots of water and hope my kidneys cooperate. I've seen cider vinegar recommended by a fellow forum member, but I loathe the stuff so I'd have to be really desperate. The only thing that really makes my BG drop significantly is dry white wine, but it's too tempting to keep it at home!

As I am type 2 and on insulin, I would have my normal dose of insulin and have breakfast as normal, then check my BG after a couple of hours. If I am high in the morning, it is often because I was high before bed or had a hypo at night and over compensated with Lucozade during the night.

I went from 12.3 to 20.5 in just over 90mins.
I rang 111. They sent me to out of hours (as was Sunday p.m). The nurse there suspected dehydration and sent me home to drink 2 litres of water and to eat a piece of toast. It came down to 14.something after a while.
I'd definitely contact GP or 111 just to check and get reassurance (but I am a self-confessed flapper at anything medical )
Hope you soon feel better
Ps it turned out to be a bit more than dehydration in the end :(

Depending on how high it is, myself as I swing rapidly from high to low I ride it out, and would have some no sugar fluids. I would continue to monitor my levels and if they are not coming down would ring the doctors out of hours service for advice.

Not being on insulin means there's not much one can do at home. If levels are in the 20's and raising, would passably ring out of hours sooner. Currently I am peaking in the mid to higher teens :( though after a couple of hours would be down into the 5.0's. I really hate these swings. 😡

Well I did what I thought was right and had some short acting insulin checked an hour later still little high so had water and went back to bed and when checked before breakfast it was within my normal range
