I went to my Telehealth appointment today ,
She is happy with how I’m getting my numbers down with diet and exercise . My weight is going up and down so she added another tablet or insulin to my mix .
I can’t remember what the insulin is called but it’s to help with loosing weight and lowering blood sugar that I need to take once a week . She did mention injection but I kindly asked her about tablets instead and she’s totally fine with that . She asked about a glucose meter and I said both doctor and nurse said no and she asked why and I said I don’t know but she was admit with the glucose meter to test for my own mind , so I ordered one and have it in the way . I did ask what type she thinks I am but she said they have no idea until I get these tests done . We spoke about a lot of type 1 and 2 . She mentioned that appranetly you can’t go from type 2 to type 1 or vise versa It’s either one or the other appranetly . She asked about my history if anyone in the family has it and I told them my mum’s dad did but controlled it with vitamins and diet I don’t think he needed insulin at all. I’m all over the place again , I’m happy to get results and closer to know what type I am but it’s causing havoc on me again , I just want this over and done with so I can just push it into my lifestyle and go back to just what I been doing and dealing with everything . So sorry guys I don’t mean to but all of it is getting the better of me completely at the moment .
What’s the difference between the nurse I’m seeing and seeing the diabetic educator ????
Because appranetly I have to go see one and they can tell me everything . Thankyou from a seriously stressed out person

If it’s a tablet you are starting on then it isn’t insulin as insulin doesn’t come as a tablet. It sounds like it could be semaglutide (Ozempic) or similar as that comes as a weekly injection or as daily tablets.

I’d also guess more likely type 2 if you’re getting your blood sugars down with diet and exercise, but see what the tests say.

The specialist wanted me to do the insulin injection once a day but I asked her kindly if I can replace it with a tablet instead of an injection . Does that distrupt with driving ??? Like at all ??

yeah that’s what I’m guessing to be honest , I’ll keep at it and hopefully I’ll be okay . She said they like it around 5 ish where I’m at 8.2 .

Insulin does not "disrupt" driving. Many of us with Type 1 drive.
In the UK, our driving authority requires us to test before driving and we have a driving license that needs to be renewed every three years.
I believe the same is true for other blood sugar lowering/potentially hypo inducing medication such as glycazide.

Hope the checks come through speedily, and put your mind at rest @Jacinta (Australian)

It does sound as though they are treating you as T2 at the moment.

Hope the Ozempic (that does sound likely to be what it is) works well.

Thanks for the update!

I honestly hope so to everydayupsanddowns , it’s kinda driving me crazy . I’m pretty sure they are aswell by the sounds of it .
I hope so to . I hope everything falls into place and if I continue to do what I need to do I should be okay hopefully.

your welcome , once I have my results I’ll let you guys know 🙂

Frustrating to wait but like you say once you know you can just get on with controlling it and get with life in general. It will all slot into place once you know where you are I know I was stressed out bigtime at first 🙂.

Most defianetly is , that’s my mindset at the moment along with the ups and downs :( . I’m hoping it all will and it will burn back into my brain so I can do it just do it when I need to do it becomes second nature basically . Scared to test because of the hole needle finger prick but is there a way to make it so it doesn’t hurt ?

Just make sure you wash and dry your hand in warm water so fingers are soft and warm don't push down on the prick pen just rest it on the finger and you should be fine it should be adjustable so you will soon find the right setting, you just get used to it just take your time.

Thankyou for the Maca44 , what’s a good setting for a first timer with a finger prick ?? And how often should you change the lancet ??

It will all depend on your skin thickness so for me I need the deepest setting as as I have DiY hands, thick skin so start low and work up honestly it's just a slight sting at worst. I never reuse lancets so always us a new one, I know some people do reuse but anything to do with blood I would question how clean it is and could a contaminated lancet cause the wrong reading, my choice so up to you.

Thankyou for that maca44 , I don’t think I have thick skin to be honest so I’ll just do what you said and start low and go up from there and see how it goes .
