Although the ESR is raised they can't find any indicator of what is wrong with me. They're doing a chest x- ray but that is just a precaution. They didn't think it was worth doing anymore tests as they can't identify what is wrong and said that the only vitamin they would test for is B12 which they have already checked. I will just have to find ways to manage my fatigue. Lucy I will follow up what you suggested and get some strong vitamin D tablets. I am very frustrated with all of this but there doesn't appear to be anything else that I can do.

How frustrating for you that they can't find anything. Although having something is not ideal it can be treated. I hope you feel better soon and something gets sorted.

Thanks Cherrypie but I asked the GP specifically at the end of the conversation if I could have tests to check my vitamin levels and she said that the only one worth doing was for Vitamin B12. She doesn't think it is worth checking other vitamin levels because she doesn't think that they are accurate. When I told her that I was worried about the lack of energy affecting my work she said "so that's why you want a sick note" to which I explained that wasn't what I wanted, that I wanted to get back to work. I'm thinking as I'm typing but maybe my body is just tired out with everything that has happened over the last two-three years and that combined with all of medications is causing the fatigue.......whatever it is certainly looks like I will have sort it out without medical help.

I wonder if the vit D level whizzes up and down all the time, so wouldn't really show if you were deficient. Although she sounds very cynical and not supportive at all.

As Cherrypie says, you can overdose on vit D and cause more problems so be careful about supplements.

Have you explored sleep deprivation ?

Sleep apnoea and other problems can cause extreme fatigue. And do you drink plenty through the day ? Dehydration will drag you down.

Thanks Cherrypie. I've typed into the drug interactions but nothing shows apart that would relate to fatigue apart from areas that are already been tested with blood tests. Rob thanks I do drink a lot of liquid during the day......although I have to admit that it is mainly Diet Coke.....but my blood chemistry result did show any problems and I think that checks for the effect of dehydration??

re: sleep apnoea I forgot to check that with my GP but as they've now been dismissive about further tests I don't know what I can do about getting that checked:confused:

Amanda I am lost for words. I cannot understand how they can possibly ignore a test result that is not only high but has been rising steadily. I'm sorry but I can't think of anything useful to say. I'm really sorry for you.xx

The only other thing I can suggest is to look at your diet again Amanda. I try my best now to stick to a low gi diet - and if I do come off it - it makes me very tired and sleepy. I am really grasping in the dark to try and help you here though.

I am sorry you didn't get the answers you wanted, but pleased nothing serious was found too.🙂

I do understand how you are feeling, having been there - and can only say see how the next two weeks go and if things don't improve go back again and again if you have to.🙂

Thank you everyone for your comments. Lucy being off work has given me a chance to think. With everything that has gone on in my life recently I probably haven't looked after myself as well as I should and this has probably sent me into a downward spiral which has probably made the fatigue worse. Because of the gastroparesis I stopped eating breakfast (because of the nausea) and fruit (because of the fibre) so I'm buying some fruit smoothies to see if that will help with both the lack of breakfast and lack of fruit. I'm also going to have more vitamins and gradually try to build up my stamina with step-by-step increases in exercise. I'm also going to try to eat less and also make sure I get the rest I need. I'm hoping that all of these small chanes will make a big difference.

There are certain clinics around the country that specialise in testing for it so your GP should be able to refer to you to one for a test. They send you home with a monitor for a night or two and see if you stop breathing several times a night. If you do, it can stop you reaching deep sleep and leave you fatigued.

Might be worth googling.

I am sorry that you are not getting anywhere with the Drs. I think you said you were seeing your specialist soon - so maybe bring the problem up there.

Another thing that is worth considering is thrush. I remember reading somewhere that systemic thrush can cause fatigue. I don't know how easy it is to diagnose - but maybe its something you can broach with the Dr.
