I have wondered that too, having two close relatives with T1 you are well aware that those little bottles in the fridge are the only thing keeping them alive and that there is currently no alternative. I guess it depends how desperate people get though, it said the lady had a needle phobia, if it was a true phobia then that might make a difference. My daughter had OCD really badly for a couple of years (thankfully now under control), the sensible part of her brain must have known that she didn’t need to spend 4 hours washing her hands before bed, because we don’t, but her skin was red raw and she still couldn’t stop and would get hysterical if we tried to interrupt her routine. It was as if there was an evil monster in her head that had completely taken over and wouldn’t allow her to think sensibly. The brain can do very strange things!
I’m glad the slapping doctor is in prison, he must have known that his therapy wouldn’t work and he took advantage of a very vulnerable person. I hope he never gets out
