Hi everyone
So finally I have had it confirmed today that I am actually type 1 not type 2 as first diagnosed bit gutted tbh and now feel like I have to get my head around it all again!
Any advice appreciated

Hi @Nico, I did suspect it. Although it's a blow, it's a good thing that you have a correct diagnosis now and so can get appropriate treatment and care. The downside is insulin, but it's not so bad once you get to grips with it - being Type 1 brings some different challenges to those you might have experienced as a Type 2. You should have more flexibility with your diet and have a reliable solution to bringing down any unexpected high levels, but you will need to learn how to count carbs and be prepared (pretend you're back in the Brownies! 🙂)

I would definitely recommend getting a copy of Type 1 Diabetes in Children Adolescents and Young People by Ragnar Hanas. It's the most comprehensive guide and reference to living with Type 1 - don't be put off by the title, it applies to all ages 🙂
