Hey everyone sorry iv been a stranger, up until a week ago, i didnt have a laptop as it was in for repair but now i am back 🙂

Soo a few updates, it wasnt a good bank holiday weekend as a few of you on here know my mum tried to commit suicide and i was a bit of a wreck for a few days....cancelled all my diabetic appointments and clinics and just forgot about diabetes really...thankfully my friends helped me get back on my feet and my mum is now ok...sort of! dont want to go into it too much...

anyway since iv been on here i have had some progress on my dental situation....i have had my root canals done!!! WOW i can honestly say it was not nice! The actual work itself didnt hurt but i had 5....yes 5 injections!!! felt them go in...all the way down and i ended up crying in the chair coz it was so painful :( he did them both at the same time so had basically the whole of the bottom of my mouth numbed for about 5 hours after and felt like my face was massive lol! even my ear was numb, luckily no hypos and no hypers either.

So i have had the root canal work done and have to go back in this wednesday to have them filled....but hoping that wont be as bad as the needles dont have to go as deep???

So not in pain any more, just have to get the back one extracted tho and then thats it for now (i have other work need doing too apparently but just want to get these out of the way first)

Numbers have been actually pretty good past week mainly in the 5-7 region which i am very pleased and also lost some weight which has lifted my spirits somewhat 🙂

So i am thinking positively now that i can keep this all up becoz i like feeling happy 🙂 oh a small payrise at work also and re booked all my appointments and clinics too. hope your all well!

x

Hi Nikki, very sorry to hear about your Mum :( I hope that you are all getting lots of support to help you through a very difficult time.

Great news about the teeth, that can really prey on your mind, so it's good that you've got lots of it out of the way. I told my dentist I didn't like the injections and he changed to use smaller needles that I hardly felt at all, so it might be worth asking if that's possible. He said they were the needles normally used for children and it might mean more than 1 injection, but if they don't hurt it's much better.

Take care, and remember we are always here for you 🙂

hey D-G sorry to here about your mum that's tough, all the best x

well done for coping with the dentist !! last time i had to have work done i went into shock !! nightmare ..i ended up going private and being completely knocked out !!

Good luck with whats happening in your world ! Talk is good 😉

Well done for keeing so positive... Hope you have a more settled time in future months.

Nice to hear from you

Worth asking about the needles anyway - hope everything goes well and it's all over with quickly. Well done on getting things sorted Nikki, I know how much courage it takes and I think you have been very brave 🙂

Well, you are braver than me, if I was offered root canal I would just say rip it out.........

You seemed to have had a hard time lately, but you have came out the other end just fine, well done........

Nice to hear from you again......🙂

Well i just got back from the dentist and am soo happy!

Only 2 injections this time which was good, still painful tho. He only filled one of the teeth that needed doing, the worse one where i had half a tooth and a gap! Im so happy with the way it looks now! he used a white filling too and had just moulded it perfectly to rebuild the tooth, it doesnt even look like a filling, it just looks like a tooth! i cant stop looking at it in the mirror lol

Next appointment is the other root filling and the extraction....the one i am terrified about! 😱

Ah, good to hear things went well - not much more to go now! Which tooth is being extracted, is it one of the big ones? If so, it can take a while for the gum to heal, so ask for advice on how best to keep it clean and maybe think about what food you will be able to eat so you're not left in a situation of being hungry but with food that is difficult to eat.
