I feel privileged as I have an upcoming appointment to see some kind of a diabetic specialist
looki forwards to hearing what they have to say,
I didn’t even know this appointment was being made (simply came through on a text as a appointment to see my Dr)

still having lost nearly 4 stone and bought my HbA1c down (feb it was down to 48) so any more help & advise they can offer is welcome.

do you know if the appointment is with your GP surgery or the hospital? It will probably just be a routine review, so a chance to check if everything is going okay and ask any questions you may have. It’s good to write a list of those I find!

If it's through your GP practice then it's no specialist, just a routine check so the surgery can claim £100 for doing the check. 🙂

I phoned the surgery questioning why I had this appointment as I became aware of it(
as I hadn’t made it and knew nothing about it)
i was told “a specialist diabetic Dr” is coming in to see 6 patients (I am one of the six)

it’s all a bit of a mystery
I hope your not right in your suspicions @Pumper_Sue or I shan’t be a happy.

I’ve been waiting for a F2F review @ hospital for about 2 years, this mysterious appointment is at my GP surgery but not with anyone from their team.
they told me a diabetic specialist Dr is coming in to see me & some other patients
Great idea @Lucyr on a list of questions to ask, especially whilst the opportunity has arisen, I’m finally getting on top of managing my Diabetes.
but I still have several health concerns.

If you have lots of questions, then pick out your most important ones to ask first too, or say at the start of the appointment “I have a list of questions” so they know to leave time to discuss them.

Hope the appointment goes well @goodybags - whichever Dr it is you see 🙂

Taking a list of questions is a great idea - it’s so easy to forget all the things you meant to ask once you get started discussing your first question!

Well done on your terrific weight loss, and in getting your A1c down. I anticipate very positive comments from the Dr 🙂

My Diabetic review went quite well today!
Discovered yesterday it was not to be in person @the surgery but a video call (3 way with a New GP @ my practice & DSN from the community support program, well good to know they are out there, I even have their phone number, this call was scheduled for a maximum of 45 min, however it went on for nearly an hour at which point my mobile phone overheated and shut down (it’s not the latest model)

Anyway Hba1c getting done ASAP then depending on how that comes back looking at possibly taking me off insulin and upping my Ozempic dosage and possibly trying me on a different type of medication, they even talked about how I’m not far off being “Declared as having put Diabetes in remission or Pre Diabetic” but I did point out, that yes I’m not taking much insulin, however I’m still taking the full dose of Metformin, so although that’s my goal, I’ve still a way to go,

also according to the NHS website I’m still Obese
(another 4 KG to loose before I’m then declared as Overweight rather than Obese)
so fingers crossed.

Thanks for the update @goodybags

Great to hear your appointment went so well.

Huge congrats on the weight loss! Onwards and downwards!

Sounds like it was a positive appointment!

Hmm, your thread calmed me down a bit. Recently, I was also assigned a similar meeting and I was very scared. I thought it should be a serious conversation during which they will tell me that I have very little left. I myself was going to become a doctor once and was trained in the USA as an EKG specialist at https://www.exploremedicalcareers.com/ekg-technician / and we were told that doctors generally prefer face-to-face meetings with patients whose health is not very good, because it will be easier to calm them down in person. Even though I didn't become a doctor. But after reading your words, it became much easier for me. I hope my meeting will also be successful. Health to all of you!

I didn't realise they get additional money for these routine checks. Sigh
