Haven't flown since about 2008 but just booked to go away for a week (not until November so no panic) to Lanza grotty with extended family - think there are something like 17 of us in total EEK.

I know I can't personally go through the scanner with my pump and can handle that as long as security KNOW what to do with me and are used to folk delving into their trousers to unplug and swab it, also know I need to get an up to date letter from someone medical to say why I have insulin and all the associated junk in hand luggage, plus I need to turn the Bluetooth off for the flight. There are fridges in the rooms so storage when we get there's not likely to be a prob BUT do Frio or anyone do a smallish pouch to hold a couple of prefilled pens and a Glucagen jab kit plus sufficient Pumpcarts for a week into, which would all fit into a 20cm X 20cm polythene bag without causing major probs at security before departure?

Apparently pump users need to contact the airline direct anyway - goodness knows who Jet2 might happen to use by November but I'll have to find out I expect. Nothing is as simple as just saying Oh alright then, we will thanks! to our eldest daughter, it seems …….

All I can tell you Jenny is that Jet2 will use their own airline, Jet2! I would call them now and ask the questions or if it was booked with a travel agent ask them to do it for you. I have started taking my insulin cartridges out of my Frio when at the airport and placing them in a clear bag after a very embarrassing incident at Manchester airport a couple of years ago. They treat me like a drug addict. Most major airports now have the sunflower lanyards for invisible “ disabilities”, I know we don’t count ourselves as disabled but just go with it and you hopefully will be given priority. Let’s face it we don’t get many perks! I wouldn’t worry about it, just have a great time. I’ve been to Lanzagrotty, take a scarf! :D

Re last comment - I know, been to N Fuerteventura twice, August and December and was only beach weather once in Dec. Might be my Thinsulate hat though! Will have to sort my silk one out LOL

Oh and already looked up how to get the 'invisible' lanyards, that bit was easy. Will have to enquire if we can pre-book them, cos my husband has COPD so dunno how flying might affect that, will have to look that up along with the phone nos I'll need.

Thanks Mike - the current CAA advice is to contact the airline and sorry mate - I'd rather believe the CAA directly myself. I mean you hardly need a Jobsworth like daughter has in November just gone, who was extremely displeased she'd used polythene bags which were one centimetre too big and castigated her loudly - I'm her stepmum and I wouldn't pick a fight with her deliberately!

Incidentally - that Link to Jet2's website page, does not lead to any useful page. I'll stick with ringing them. Shouldn't need extra hand baggage as only a week - 6 or 7 assorted cannulas and the inserter will be enough. I'll stash the used sharps in the cannula box and secrete it in the hold on the way back.

Ah. They’ve moved the ‘medical and special assistance’ page. And that’s the worst 404 Page not found I’ve ever seen. It doesn’t even tell you that the content has moved.
