One million people on sickness benefits could be forced to start looking for jobs including thousands with mobility and anxiety problems as the Government gets set to slash billions from its welfare budget.

Why am I not surprised. They better be ready for an increase of hospital admissions. At a cost to the NHS. People are deemed not capable of work for a reason. You'll also get suicides from people with serious mental illness that receive a letter saying fit for work. Politics is all about spin. Remember that.

Reading other similar stories, it seems that since working from has become more popular, some are saying even those who can't do a regular job due to sickness, are still capable of at least working from home at a p.c.

I'm not saying I agree, but that seems to be what is behind the idea, that plus saving benefits.

You're right. The only problem is virtually all the work from home jobs are hybrid. Which means some days you will need to travel to work. Trust me I've been looking for a work from home job for 5 years. You've also got the fact to work from home requires a set-up standard that many will fail. It's all spin. If the DWP asks you if you want to work there is only one answer. So their survey saying all these disabled people want to work is rubbish. They're just telling them what they want to hear. If they want to save money they can stop wasting it instead of hitting the most vulnerable in society.

I'm also guessing that all these work from home jobs are going to be open for competition. So the disabled are going to have no chance. I've been blatently discriminated against more than once.

I agree, as you say there will always be an element of hybrid working, not many jobs work purely from home. Sounds like there's going to be an awful lot of genuine cases being treated unfairly.

That is a problem. There are those that play the system also. But the DWP doesn't give out LCWRA to just anyone now.

Regardless of who wins the next election one thing they'll have to address is that the combined bill for pensions and benefits is shaping up to dwarf all other spending. I don't envy whoever has to try and come up with a solution.

Yeah. They're all pretty awful. I'm guessing they'll just keep borrowing. Assuming they've got a good credit score.

Doubt it. If you add health then it may well end up over 50% (especially if you include some of the daft spending over the pandemic: Test and Trace is counted as NHS spending even though the NHS didn't see any of it). https://ifs.org.uk/taxlab/taxlab-key-questions/what-does-government-spend-money
I didn't put a timescale on it. As has already been reported, the state pension alone is on course to cost the Government more than the combined budgets of the Department for Education, the Home Office and the Ministry of Defence.

Will they give us a job that want one? All i got was sent to a wonderful charity . However all thry could offer was to travel many stops by train that would cost me to do voluntary work. We neither have the money for the travelling or the clothes for me to do this. Cheaper for hubby to keep me . No benefits as he earns just enough so i do not get .

They will rule you out quicker than you can say Christmas Shopping. You've got to pass a phone call which is basically a load of interview questions to get an interview. It's ridiculous.

I don't know if it is just the conservatives but they don't seem to care about their people, you know, the ones they govern and support.

I think there are different levels of severity. Cameron once said we're all in this together. Then Boris broke all the rules of Covid while the rest of us followed them and died. The guy should be ashamed of himself.

Problem is I want a five star hotel but i’d still sink one of the dingy’s and they would say too pale has to be British . You have to pay for a three star ma’am .
However if i had been luvky to survive a hazardous crossing here is a safe barge with a killer disease on board. If not lets put you into beautiful pituresque countryside where the locals pay millions to live in their dream homes and we will put you on a base thats dilapidated where the rats used to live.
Now we have focused on that all summer the children cannot go back to school as we now confess we have had falling concrete we have known about since the last labour leader had not done anything about it. Thirteen years oh but its conservative to he lucky for some.
Luvky for those that have enough.
Tell me what i need an rye test … what too far and i wanted to see Bernard Castle.
oh lets party instead . The Queens husband is laid to rest her all alone but lets have a shin dig.
You could not dream this up .
Then again Consultants are not believed in hospitals by the management …
oh i need to wake up this morning to a better World.
Why am i feeling ….

Something is a foot with all these sudden u-turns.

In todays news, they are telling sick kids to go to school, yesterday sick adults back to work and the Lancet report confirming (what many of us have always known despite their best efforts to try and convince us all otherwise) that those without symptoms hardly ever spread the virus, after locking down all the well symptomless people in 2020 and closing schools, ruining businesses, peoples livelihoods, the economy etc

All to be replaced by migrants that come from war torn countrys (France)
they will play the game, while we pay the cost.
DWP will look at it if you can use a computer at home you can work, doesn't matter what you feel like 24/7 as long as you are working. I spent 29 years fighting the DWP after I damaged my spine in an accident at work.

Just relax. It's gonna be ok.

They probably think people will forget and move on.

It's shocking how they treat people. Stoping your benefits is another one of their tactics.
