Former Bedford Modern School student, Lawrence Smith, is planning a 1,600km charity cycle ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats with six university friends.
Lawrence, 22, who left BMS in 2010 with 10 GCSEs and 4 A Levels, is currently in his fourth year studying Veterinary Medicine at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
The aim of the charity cycle ride is to raise £20,000 for two charities - the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Mind.
The charity cycle ride was inspired by the father of Emma, one of Lawrence’s friends, who tragically suffered with mental illness leading to his death two years ago this summer.
