Hi All,
I have been a T1D for 62 years with reasonable control except in my younger days!! But lately I have been experiencing some unexplained high BS.
An example was a few days ago, my morning BS was 5.6, I had my toast and Actrapid insulin and checked again late morning and result was 4.5 all OK.
The following morning BS was 6.1, had usual toast and insulin but later my BS was 12.5 (it seemed I had forgotten my insulin (which I hadn't) or the insulin which I had, didn't work.
These unexplained highs seem to be happening more often and I wondered if anyone else had similar experience. I rotate injection sites and they all seem OK.
I have made apt with my GP but unfortunately non available for 3 weeks,
Thanks,
Iain

Very hard to know really.

With all your years of experience I’m sure you’ve seen plenty of diabetes weirdness and unexplained results from doing the same things with completely different outcomes.

Has the insulin been OK since or might it have gone off?

Could have been scar tissue?

Maybe worth rotating a little further afield?

Or it might be none of those things.

How long has this been going on, Iain? My bgl has been unusually spikey over the last couple of weeks. I put it down to stress, but if I'm not the only one, it might also be something like the change in the weather - that often effects people's blood sugar, and it has got a lot colder very rapidly.

I am also struggling to get levels down over the last week or so since it's gotten colder...very annoying as I'd just about perfected my 'summer' ratios! 🙄
