In the last few days my levels have been 13 and above despite cutting out any form of puddings,i am in my 70s and disabled to the extent that i cannot run,i am fairly active though. Can anybody suggest anything that i can do.Thankyou.

Hello Douglas. welcome to the forum 🙂 I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your levels. Are you on any medication? One thing to bear in mind is that ALL food containing carbohydrate will raise your blood sugar levels, not just sweet foods, so you might need to look at the things like potatoes, rice, pasta and bread that you are eating. White bread will actually raise your levels faster than sugar!

If this is just a recent thing, is there a possibility that you are sickening for something? Infections can raise levels in a lot of people and sometimes the levels are already rising before you realise you are poorly.

If you are on insulin, then there is the possibility that your insulin has lost its potency - it might have got too warm, or been out of the firdge for more than 28 days.

I thing the best thing would be to speak to your doctor as your medication might need adjusting. Hope you are back to normal levels soon!

Hi and a warm welcome to the forum Douglas

Welcome to the forums douglas39 🙂

Hello Douglas, welcome. Not been long on here myself, but can say you will get all the help you need from here, and they're quite nice too.:D

hi douglas ..welcome to the forum ...are you on meds ...could you look at reducing other 'sugars' ie carbs at all ? i for one thought i had a healthy lifestyle muesli for breakfast ..lots of fruit and natural fruit jucies etc ...pre dx....😱 its a learning curve good luck and remember no questions are regarded silly here x

Welcome to the forums Douglas. Sorry you're getting those high levels at the moment. As has already been suggested lots of things can impact on your levels, so tell us a bit more about yourself and your circumstances and we'll see if we can narrow it down a bit.

So, how long is it since you were diagnosed? What meds are you on? Do you think you might be coming down with something? Look forward to hearing more from you. Take care. XXXXX
