Pharmaceutical companies should stockpile six weeks’ worth of drugs to guard against disruption at the end of the Brexit transition period, the government has said.

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has written to medicine suppliers advising them to make boosting their reserves a priority.

The letter, published online on Monday, reiterates that ministers will not be asking for an extension to the transition period past 31 December, despite the coronavirus pandemic.

There are concerns that the Covid-19 crisis has led to a dwindling of some medical stocks and that a disorderly exit without a trade deal could cause significant disruption.

Here we go again :( I find it disgusting that even after 4 years the government have not been able to negotiate a fair and equitable trade deal with our biggest trading partner :( There is no plan for Brexit, other than there is no plan for Brexit :( And given the state of world trade in the midst of a pandemic, deteriorating relations with the largest trading nation on the planet (China) and a likely change of leadership in the US, rushing to a no deal is unfathomable :(

Well, I’m not in the least surprised. The utter incompetence of this government becomes more apparent as each day passes. Boris has no shame, as evidenced by handing his brother a seat in the House of Lords. For what? And a Russian oligarch. We all know what that is for. Russian money backing the Tory Party. Why? To get the UK separate from Europe, weakening the EU militarily.

All you folk who voted for Boris didn’t realise his paymasters were Russian, and that Dominic the puppet master spent three yoears in Russia, only one of which is accounted for.

Still, never mind. In a years time, when all you workers have no jobs, I’ll be OK with my pension and be able to afford the rise in price of food and necessities, and, if necessary, import my own insulin through my niece who is a doctor in Australia. Or just move back to Scotland after independence.

I don’t think Boris wants to make a deal, he thinks he can just bully people into doing what he wants. Terrifying.

I think that's the case, I don't think he can be bothered to work that hard, far easier to just sit back and see what happens - he can always blame the virus now :(

But he has already turned down the offer from the EU to delay talks until after the epidemic. He knows the EU want to have a trade deal, so he is depending on them to give into his unreasonable demands. Something for nothing. See who blinks first.

One thing he can be sure about is that all the car manufacturers will leave the "UK" and move production to Europe. Or Scotland, in the hope that independence comes to pass and return into the EU or EFTA to get their zero tariff. 'Sir' James Dyson, of course, an avid Brexiteer, has already moved production to Singapore, and has announced redundancies in the UK. I have no doubt that the other geat Tory donor, JC Bamford (JCB) will move most of their UK production to their factory in Germany so they have access to trade agreements across the world. London, the centre of Europe wide banking, will lose most of its business to Frankfurt, leaving just the criminal money laundering business. The only big business that has said Brexit will make no difference is BAE systems. That's because of the big government contracts to build nuclear powered (and nuclear weapon loaded) submarines, presumably to frighten terrorists and stop international cybercrime.

With 5 million unemployed and the loss of Scotland (and possibly even Wales) and a united Ireland, Boris is heading for the award as worst ever Prime Minister, which must give some relief to Theresa May, the previous holder of the title.
