Type 2
Hello all I'm feeling so down with all sugar related problems. Feb last year I was really poorly I had a water infection that lasted 4 months covid which spiked diabetes type2 I ended up in hospital my sugar spiked to 28, was delirous vomiting they thought I had diabetic ketoaciodis. Thankfully I did not but they could get levels down. I was put on ozempic when that went out of out of stock bydureon I had bad side effects I'm now on semaglutide tablets. I'm losing too much weight I don't like it I've always been 9 stone I'm currently 7 stone nothing looks right. Also doctor told me to go on low carb. I currently have to take anti sickness everyday, I'm 48 and feel so much older also so fatigued.

Thanks for your reply, last blood test 55, and testing strip 8.5, they said type 2 but everyone at home & friends said are you sure from how much weight I'm losing & how unwell I am sometimes & I'm exhausted.

If you are going low carb and losing weight that you don't want or need to then increasing protein and healthy fats should help.
The weight loss does send up red flags that you may be Type 1 although the medication seems to have brought your blood glucose down. There is something not right so I would revisit your GP and ask for the tests to rule out Type 1, there are some antibody tests and c-peptide which will see how much insulin you are producing.
When you say you are following low carb about how many carbs per day do you have.

@Elainehp25 hope everything goes well for you :care: as others have suggested you should definitely message your GP try to book an appointment and request a c-pep test

Hi @Elainehp25 and welcome to the forum!

What you're describing is really quite odd, did you need to lose weight in the beginning? It's curious about ozempic and all the weight loss... Definitely speak to your GP about this and request extra tests. Feeling sick can be very draining, so please look after yourself <3
