Evening all, when renewing your vehicle insurance which diabetes type do you advise to your insurers ? Most places I’m finding only recognise type 1 or type 2 but not type 3c ?

Your car insurance doesn’t need to know what type of diabetes you have, just what type of licence you have eg medically restricted

Diabetic nurses at our GP's don't recognise it as my wife is type 3c but they keep saying she is type 2
As for DVLA just tell them you are diabetic and if they do ask tell them all they are interested in is if you a at risk of having Hypo's and what meds you are on

As a Type 3c on insulin, which it looks like you are then you are treated "as if Type 1", so if you have to choose between just those 2 options, then select Type 1. The only thing they will be interested in is that you have a medically restricted licence because of the insulin but it should not affect your insurance premium.

Evening the earlier replies are correct in that insurers/ DVLA do not need to know about your specific 3c.
As Barbara says they really only want to know about your medication ( insulin) and best to treat it as Type 1 if you have to choose between 1 or 2 as only options.
