Type 3c
Was a type one before a crash and meltdown of the pancreas. The thing just got rotten in me. But really lucky as there was cancer in me. From two and half years off crazy ass stuff. I got over it and have a 770g Medtronic pump with cgm. Hi new to here and trying to find tips plus tricks from you 3cers. Btw from Australia and this is why I am here because no doctors or Endo have no idea. I like everyone else have tort my self.
so hi and will keep you posted and watch other news and posts.

Hi and welcome.

How long were you Type 1 before your pancreas shut down and died altogether. I assume you now also need Creon? We have a few Type 3c's on the forum so hopefully some will be along to swap notes with you.

I haven't heard of the 770g pump. I believe @SB2015 is using the Medtronic 780 with the Guardian sensors in a closed loop system, so I am sure she will be interested in sharing experiences with you. Hope I got that right.... I'm still on MDI so this tech stuff is all a foreign language to me!!

Which insulin are you using in your pump and how do you find it?

Anyway, just wanted to say hello and hope that you find being a member of the forum as beneficial as I have. Educating yourself is really important with diabetes I think as you have to become your own expert, especially as it can vary so much from one individual to another. Sharing experiences through the forum really helps you to experiment and find out what works for you as an individual.

Thanks @rebrascora for tagging me in this thread.

I am using a 780G with their sensors in a closed loop system. Others use the sensors to get alerts for highs and lows, whilst the closed loop has my pump 'talking' to the sensor every five minutes and making regular adjustments to my basal insulin throughout the day and night. For me the biggest change is that I now tend to sleep through the night without any alarms or testing (just the inevitable age related visit to the loo)

I will tag @eggyg as our resident 3c expert for info on creon related matters.

Let us know how you get on.

@dhburns76 - have lived without a Pancreas since May 2010. Thrown in at the deep end as previously had no idea about diabetes. Initial months were a nightmare, and it wasn't until we agreed i was to be managed as a Type 1 that things improved. Up until the last couple of years managing diabetes as per the DAFNE Type 1 guidelines (adjusting Bolus for carb intake) meant a pretty normal life..... except every meal you calculate Creon and insulin dosage. I now have TSlim Pump and Dexcom G6 due to issues with my Liver which has taken away the residual Glucogen reaction to falling blood sugars - so have now lost the three functions the Pancreas helps manage - lowering BS / increasing BS / food digestion. Happy to help with any questions you may have.

G’day @dhburns76

Welcome to the forum!

We’ve had one or two other Aussie members over the years, and @Jacinta (Australian) is a fairly common contributor at the moment.

I can’t quite remember the differences between the MM770 and MM780, but it seems to be quite a common thing these days for Medtronic to launch pumps in different territories with subtle differences between them. Possibly because of regulatory approval?

How have you been finding things since starting on an insulin pump?
