Hi I'm new to the site and would welcome some advice, I've been type 2 for about 2 yrs and my medication is gliclazide 80mg x4 ,my morning BS are always either 8mm or 9mm, my gp suggested adding metformin sr to run alongside, which for a few days seemed ok, but then the unbearable stomach cramps and pain started, which actually seem to be going worse, my gp mentioned that there might be a alternative by taking an injectable medication, has anyone any experience in these, ,one problem I have to live with are adhesions in my intestines which I have to be careful what I eat, any advice would be welcomed,

Can you or do you eat a low carb diet, as that seems to sort out high readings.

What's the problem?

Welcome to the forum @Jackbarry

It’s a little unusual to be on glic first, and then add met. Usually they seem to come the other way around.

Stomach upset is quite common in the first few weeks of taking ‘metfartin’ unfortunately, but for most it seems to settle down after a short while.

Members here have commented that it can help to take Met with a fairly substantial meal, but one which doesn’t contain too much in the way of carbohydrates.

Do you know which injectable medication was being considered? There are a few contenders, and different members have experiences of each 🙂
