Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I'm type 2 and I've been for years. My diabetes is playing up at the mo. But the question I've got to ask I keep getting thrush. Plus when I'm drinking Diet Coke I'm drinking it in one. Could there be related to my sugars not been great. Any ideas what I can do.

Hi Wendy,
I keep getting thrush too, have you tried Canestan cream you may have to use for several weeks. My GP said should use until symptoms have gone.
I think it is high sugars that cause it.
Drink loads of water it will dilute your urine.
Do let me know if you find a cure.
Thanks
Take care

I've had lots of cream and I've had a tablet to take a couple of times. It seems like it's gone then it comes back again. I think I Deffo need to increase the water as st moment I'm only Diet Coke the odd hot chocolate and a bit of milk. I'm gunna get the holidays out the way and think I'm gunna have to be strict with myself. I'm phoning up the gp as forgot to mention it when I saw her last week cause I was ok.

Wendy & Kitty - until you het your blood glucose down and keep it down all day every day for a few moths - you'll NEVER get rid of the Great Itch. It subsides a bit then flares up again - your body tries to rid itself of excess glucose by peeing it out - hence also the thirst - thrush is a fungus and positively thrives on sweetness.

It's a vicious circle until you CAN control your BG well! Wendy - can you not drink tea or coffee instead of manufactured garbage - like all 'pop'? Thing is because the higher our BG goes for any length of time the body starts to struggle and will send messages to your brain that the it needs to be fed something so as to get some energy - which the brain innocently interprets as 'Gimme something SWEET!' so that's what we find ourselves doing - when it's positively the worst thing we can possibly supply it with!

Thanks for that I don't drink tea or coffee. But I'm Deffo cutting down on the Diet Coke. I'll try squash or flavoured water. I know I need to do something Carnt live with the constant itch. I have other issues to deal with without this as well. Thanks again.

@Wendy Lorraine
What I do Wendy Lorraine is because I cannot stand drinking plain water, I slice up a Lemon, you can use anything I guess maybe Limes, put the sliced Lemon in a jug fill it with water and put that in the fridge. I drink that and it is much better than plain water. I have converted many of my friends to it also by chance. Unlike you, I do also drink a lot of coffee but very little tea. You could try green tea perhaps or even some flavoured teas. Just a thought.
