If you don't have any success with your GP, as sadly some are not up to date with current prescribing of Libre or other CGM, try your hospital team and get back to us. Professor Partha Kar who is the lead clinician for diabetes within NHS England is prepared to advocate individually for people whose GPs are dragging their feet on this, so come back to us if you get a "NO" and we will help you turn it into a "Yes". In the mean time, you can apply to Abbott laboratories for a free 14 day trial of the Freestyle Libre system. ie one sensor. The only qualifiers are that you have diabetes and you have a suitable phone to scan it and the phone list is quite extensive I believe. You will find details on the Freestyle Libre website.
Brilliant information there, thank you.
Since being diagnosed last September I’ve heard nothing from my GP. I was prescribed metformin and told me to take three a day.
I’m interested to see if the medication has had any effect to I’ll definitely take a look at the Freestyle Libre website. Thanks again.

Could a moderator please consider moving this post from @6pac into its own thread? I detect there is a lot in 6pac's history that might be more helpfully discussed outside of this particular thread.

Hello @6pac, I've just read back into your postings from Nov 22. If I understand correctly from all of the narrative in several threads you are currently on metfomin and being treated as if T2. But you've had some possible damage to your panc'y and you could actually be T3c. Even your GP has at some point acknowledged that scenario, yet you've had no further dialogue with your GP, no reviews and your last HbA1c was 90 in 10/22. Have I got that about right?

If so, I think you need to get an up to date HbA1c and find out if your current treatment with metformin is helping. Also has your weight and thus BMI changed since you told us about your numbers?

As a relative newcomer to this D malarkey and with no formal medical qualification I could be totally wrong here. But it seems to me that you should have your diagnosis adjusted to T3c and you should have at least one referral to a Specialist to draw together the strands arising from your previous bouts of pancreatitis, your current diabetes and your longstanding high cholesterol levels, plus possibly your acknowledged bouts of depression.

Certainly explore the Libre free trial, but consider developing a plan for what you hope to achieve from the knowledge you might get from that 14 day trial. Also are you keeping a log or diary of your finger prick testing that might add to understanding what is happening to your BG over some or all of the last 5 months? Any Libre trial might first be sensibly underpinned by having an up to date HbA1c.
