I was diagnosed with Type 2 just before Christmas and am taking Metformin. Can anybody help with information about how long gastric issues from the Metformin roughly take to settle and is there anything I can do to help the process. Thank you

People find it will settle in a couple of weeks but if not you should ask for the slow release version but you should only be increasing the dose from the minimum over a few weeks if needed. Also taking mid meal can help to minimise the stomach issues.
Have you also made some dietary changes as people find that can be just as powerful as the medication and is needed anyway.
This link may help you with some ideas for modifying your diet, https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/.
What is your HbA1C as that will indicate how much work is needed.

A great deal of work is needed as my HbA1C I believe was 104. I am now on the maximum dose of Metformin as prescribed after building up over 3 weeks and I will be having it checked again later this month. I am getting to grips with diet changes thank you for that link, exercise is harder due to being in a wheelchair mostly and needing 2 crutches to balance. Swimming isn't a real option as only one leg works so I go round in a circle!! If anybody has any exercise suggestions I would be grateful. I can walk very short distances with my crutches which I am trying to increase but it's not easy.

Welcome to the forum @Lydzellie

Sorry to hear you are having some stomach upset. Hope it settles down, and the SR version helps if you switch to that.

When people have asked about exercise in the past some members have recommended looking up seated exercise on YouTube. Apparently there are a range of different strengths and intensities available to suit different needs.

Hope you can find some options that suit you.
