Type 2
Hi everyone.

Just been diagnosed with type 2 after many years of being prediabetic.

I am trying to alter my diet to keep blood sugar in check and at a reasonable number.

I have a sister and a niece with type 1 and my dad has had type 2 for decades now.

I am not overweight and i play football on saturday afternoons with a training session during the week.

Glad to be here to find out other peoples experiences and advise.

Eddy

Hi @eddymyers and welcome to the forum
I too was a TOFI (Thin Outside Fat Inside) Type 2 diabetic. Given the choice between A). Constantly increasing medication B). 8 week crash diet followed by transition to lower carb diet C). Low Carb way of eating (no calorie restriction). I chose a Low Carb Higher Protein Moderate traditional Fat way of eating to put my T2D onto remission.

But it's a personal choice.

Many ways to approach this but I choose the low carb route, this link may help you if you choose that way. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/ Some do's and don'ts and some meal ideas and good explanation of the principals of managing Type 2 diabetes.

thanks for the replies - looking forward to gleaning all your expertise, findings and experiences. I have already starting reducing carbs - but that seems to be the trickiest bit to replace!!!

Tell us what your typical meals are and we can suggest low carb substitutes. Or just Google them and put in 'Keto' or 'low carb' in front of the name e.g. keto bread
