Type 2
Morning everyone. I've been type 2 for well over 13 years, quite well controlled but Hba1c has crept up from 6.2 to 6.8 at last review.
I'm not too concerned at the moment as it may have been a blip, what does concern me is that the bread I was eating, 'Burgen' soya and linseed, is now virtually impossible to buy in any of my local supermarkets. It was a low carb and very seeded.
Can anyone suggest a suitable alternative low carb bread, looking for 26g per 100grms or less? I only eat 3 slices a day but switching to it all those years ago had an immediate effect of reducing my Hba1c. Thanks for any help

Can't suggest an alternative but it has been patchy here , and some stocking a new version, and some the old.

Its 11.8g per slice.
Hovis Nimble is 37g per 100g, but only 8.1g per slice
Warburtons wholemeal (400g) is 37.8g per 100g, but only 9g per slice
They are not seeded, but smaller slices, but still quite reasonable.

Livlife, if you can find it, it used to be in Waitrose, and occasionally in a few other supermarkets intermittently is
10.2g per 100g, 3.4g per slice.

I get mine from the low carb company also livlife from Waitrose when they have it

Is Vogel still a thing? That used to be a low carb alternative bread around here. Not that I ever bought it!

3 slices of bread a day seems quite a lot to me and Burgen is not that low carb compared to other options available these days.
A standard wholemeal loaf is about 15g per slice so not that much more than Burgen. As mentioned Warburtons no added sugar wholemeal is 9g per slice and widely available in most supermarkets including the discount ones like Lidl. If you want lower still then LivLife and HiLo (think that might be Sainsbury's) seem to be the current best options or bake your own.... there are plenty of low carb recipes available online..... Some as low as just 2-3g carbs per slice but you will need to invest in specialist ingredients for those, which are also available to order online.

I found a liv life in waitrose. it is nice but I am still trying to avoid all bread and beige carbs. It's an occasional treat for me.

Have a look at HiLo whole meal seeded from Sainsburys

I get a monthly order from here, https://srslylowcarb.com/ prefer the non sliced seeded and the rolls, very good, try the wraps, 5g a wrap!
